Getting the size and height right
A coffee table should sit at roughly the same height as your sofa seat (about 40 to 45 cm) and span around two-thirds of the sofa's length. Leave 35 to 45 cm between the table and the sofa — close enough to reach, far enough to walk past. Side tables work best level with the arm of the chair or sofa beside them.
